Andrew Vallee

Andrew Vallee grew up in New Hope, PA, near the home and studios of renowned furnituremaker George Nakashima. He was influenced by Nakashima's teachings at a young age with his boyhood friend and grandson of Nakashima, Misha Amagasu. After graduating from WWU in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Art, Andrew dedicated himself to learning the craft of furnituremaking, apprenticing for noted master furnituremaker Alan Rosen of Lummi Island. Andrew lives in Edison, WA, with his wife Andrea and daughter Genevieve.

Wesley Smith

Wesley Smith grew up all over the globe living in Italy and Japan, studying abroad, and learning about the world with his family. He has been heavily influenced by the woodwork he viewed as a child in the temples and shrines of rural Japan. Wesley graduated from WWU in 1995 with a degree in Economics. After college he continued his education with a two-year apprenticeship under noted master furnituremaker Alan Rosen of Lummi Island, learning the intricacies of fine furnituremaking. Wesley lives in Deming, WA, with his wife Sarah and son Buck.

Matt Dykema

Former firefighter Matt Dykema is the tallest person at Smith & Vallee Woodworks, Inc. In addition to working in the woodshop, Matt is responsible for the installation of all cabinetry. Matt is the last person in the company to touchs of our projects, a grave responsibility he takes seriously.

Evan Grimes
We stole Evan from High Desert Woodworks in Pocatello, ID. As our lead cabinetmaker, Evan spends most of his time behind our industrial table saw and he has the splinters in his face to prove it.

Berit Ness

Berit is the newest member of the team. Berit works in our showroom in Edison. It is her responsibility to inform the public about why our products are superior to all the rest. Her sharp mind, sweet smile, and golden tongue helps keep everyone else busy.

OUR WOODSHOP. Our woodshop and sawmill facilities are located in the foothills of the North Cascades, a few miles east of Bellingham, WA. We are neighbored by a sustainably managed forest that provides many of the trees transformed in our shop into cabinets and furniture of lasting beauty and utility. A dedicated crew of woodworkers help us craft our quality products.
